I love jewelry, adore jewelry, wearing jewelry. Have stacks of rings. So when I went shopping with me very bestest friend and came across freerange jewels at the Cape Quarter -  I was is jewel heaven.

It is one of those moments of what to choose, what to wear, what to have, moving into the want, want, want stage. Very best friend and I or very best friend ended up with a few stack rings and I am going for either my lady bird ring or my bee ring. Can't make up me mind. Have to choose. Know I have to choose before the weekend, aahhhhhh. it's one of those feelings...... like a chocolate craving.

Itz van Allez

Like most of us we sometimes wonder where we can go to for all our crafty needs. One of those places are itzvanallez. They really have something of everything, for any kind of craft you can think about. If they don't have something in stock Surita is always kind enough to find that all elusive item for you.

I did a few crafty courses through them and it was an absolutely amazing event. It is such a nice way to make friends with people that share your passion. Get new ideas, rework old ones.

From time to time, itzvanallez promotes workshops on their site, from mosaic to pewter classes. So if ever wondering what to do for that Saturday pop over to see what's new and happening in the crafty world.

Design your own bookshelf

De Waal Art has the nicest idea if you want to design your very own bookshelf without the "books". Instead of your bookshelf taking up space, this is such a lovely idea of creating a bit more space.
The ideas are endless with this. I'm actually thinking of doing this in one of my bedrooms. Paint the one wall with chalkboard, surround the wall with a few of these nice little bookcases around.
With this I can put a daybed against the one wall, with mwa's scattercushions all about. Definately a project in the making.

Carrol Boyes Functional Art

I've always loved Carrol Boyes, even before the "being famous" moments. I remember her working in a garage some place and having my first spoon. The items are just so unique and as descriptive as put forward on her web. The fact that she has wonderful handbags brings a new dimension to her series, and not to mention all the cutlery and crockery to drool over.
Her use of incorporating various media such as pewter, stainless steel make their products so much more varied and exciting.  They have these wonderful chocolate sets just in time for Mothers Day. So what is not to like.

What you can do

Want to improve your valley and don't know how, here's a few steps to guide your way.

Get involved in your local town planning process. This way you will know what is happening in and around your town.

Plant vegetables in your own garden, or start a community garden.

Learn about the ecology of where you live and how it can be improved.

Support local farmers, buy locally grown food and ask your grocer to supply more locally grown food.

Grow native plants that attract bees and butterflies. Eliminate the use of toxic pesticides and herbicides in your garden.

Realmliving

Realmliving uses contemporary designs combined with modern composition. Their focus is on functionality, comfort and good old timelessness. They use high quality wood species from sustainably managed forests which is always a good thing. They have a free catalogue on request.

I found the clear cut lines very interesting, and have a few ideas buzzing in my head how to incorporate some items in my home.

Sofaworx

If you are looking for affordable stylish comfortable sofas hop into Sofaworx. They have an extensive range of sofas available in all kinds of fabric, leather or suede. All of their sofas are manufactured in their own factory. I'm in the market to purchase sofas, so I'm exploring.

This corner unit might work for me.

Recreate

The first time I got to know Recreate was at a Design Indaba in Cape Town. It was the first stall I saw when I walked in at the show and the last I went to before I left. Recreate totally bowled me over and I walked away with a ton of ideas and pictures in my mind. I just could not believe what they could do with old/used furniture.

Recreate uses pieces of discarded junk and by recreating, creates a unique, recycled range of furniture, lighting and interior accessories. Each furniture piece keeps its own character but with a new function, so a suitcase becomes a chair. A scale a clock, something useful that can be used and is extremely fun to look at and be part of.

Here just some of Recreates fun, individual, characterful furniture.

Ways to Spruce up your Living Space

Lay new scatter cushions with winter/summer textures depending on the season for a combination of warmth and freshness
.

Use what you have, sometimes just re-arranging what you already have can transform a room. Group objects together to create interest or change a photograph in your photo frames.

Trays with candles packed with lit candles create an ambient setting while flickering candlelight in glass containers give energy day or night. Eat in using your beautiful china, crystal and silverware. Make sure it sparkles so that the candlelight refracts.

Big Blue

I was in shopping mode today, and hopped into the Big Blue Store. I just got so inspired and just have to have one of these handbags, but can't choose. I don't know why life (shopping) has to be about choices. If my bank balance was in co-hoots with my shopping mode, I probably would walk away with all of these bags. You have to understand bags are my thing, I have vintage fossil, leather,   ........ and I'm known to change my bags daily. Now back to the choices ........................

Yuppie Chef

If you want to have "the IN kitchen", Yuppie Chef  is the go to place. It is one of those places that just makes you want to buy, buy and buy. My shopping cart looks like the who's who of kitchen brands. For instance who can resist these bunny salt and pepper shakers for Easter.

OR get these 3D easter cookie cutter shapes  which makes cutting and decorating cookies and biscuits simple. With no sharp edges, the cutter is safe for use by children, and features a food safe, robust plastic cutter and an easy to grip and wash soft touch top.

I so want this mixer .........

oh and this.....

Isn't this just enough to put anybody in the baking mood .........

Kirstenbosch Gardens

Kirstenbosch Gardens is one of the world heritage sites.

We took the kids and (myself) hiking. Boys will be boys and they definitely took to every nook and cranny. This was such a wonderful way to rejuvenate those batteries. So if any of you are ever in our little Valley, this is just one of those places to visit, a must see on any bucket list.
