Good Intentions

The road is paved with good intentions. I've had everything lined up for my ten days of craftiness, got all my ideas sorted out, my thoughts collected everything done in a smile and wave kind of way. What I did not expect is getting to be a bit unwell, sick, not doing so good and ending up in a ward called ICU. Everything is fine now, but got a little bit of a skrik nonetheless. So in token of my promised ten days of all things craftiness we have to do a little bit of a postponement going until next week. I have to get my brain waves in functioning manner and give myself a wee bit of a break on the craftie side. What I will do is keep you guys updated with a few things I find on my way to bettership on all things that keeps me inspired.

A New Baby

I have welcomed a new baby into my world. She has cute little four wheels, nippy around corners, light on fuel and such a pleasure to drive. She is very healthy. With no further adue, I hereby present New Baby.... just in time for Valentine's Day.

King Saul Production

What a weekend, I don't know if yours was as busy as ours. Finally, all the elements towards the production the kids acted in came to a culmination over a four day period, inclusive of five shows with about seven hundred people watching per show. I don't know if it was my nerves at play or the kids nerves at play. All in all I have to say it was a great, magnificent, sorry you missed it show. Being a theatre mommie is about driving around, running around and waiting around in some form or another. That 's the downside, the plus side is you know your kids are doing what they love, are busy and are kept out of mischief. I love the smiles, the happiness in them, it teaches them about responsibility, that they are needed for their specific role, even how small, they have a part to play. I'm sharing some of their joyful moments with yourselves today.

The Two V's

Just a thought to share on having teens. When you do have teenagers I think mostly it's about 90% hormones and 10% brainpower and us as parents have to navigate this minefield called hormones.

We've implemented this small little trick into the family which a good friend told us about and it works. It's the two V's the one V stands for "vetroue" "trust" and the other for "verantwoordelikheid" "responsibility". So where-ever you need to make a decision or are in a situation you need to think quickly it's about the two V's. Whenever my daughter goes anywhere I just show her the two V's and she knows it's about Trust and Responsibility. She needs to be responsible in whatever situation she finds herself. She needs to make the right decisions and be responsible for those decisions.  With the correct decisions we as parents gain her trust and in effect give her more responsibility. With more trust comes more responsibility. More responsibility more trust. All in all a win-win situation.

 

 

 

Our First Premiere

We were so excited as a family, this was our first film premiere where the kids got a taste of the other side of film making. They got to see the final product they worked on in one form or another. All three were part of the movies called, Second Day, iBalaclava and the Prodigal. I thought we all looked so stunning in our best. Today I'm sharing a bit of our joy. I'm sharing one of the trailers as well, and in one of the scenes my daughter is sitting on the floor in the trailer. At the end of the month the kids will be acting in another stage production at the Civic Centre with a total of eight shows. I can say it is hard work and a lot of dedication, and this is something they want to do, I'm such a proud theatre mamma.

Rugby Mamma

To be Rugby Mamma is loads of pressure. We are totally a rugby family at the moment. It comes with tons and tons of responsibility. I just have to share a "Rugby Mamma's" job description with you.

• Remember that there is no sleeping in or being late - at all.
• Remember to have all the camera's, tabs, bb's, phones, videos and all other electronic equipment charged and waiting to go.
• Remember to delegate the necessary electronic equipment to all relevant family members.
• Remember to ensure that all the passes, kicks, tackles are included across all the media channels.
• Remember to make all media available at quarter time, half time, full time to all visiting family, friends and requests by friends when required.
• Remember to back up all relevant media to stiffies, sticks, phones, for social media purposes.
• Remember to have on hand, cold drinks, water, food, snacks at any given time.
• Remember to have your wallet on hand for any given requests at any given time.
• Remember to remember that you have seen all the passes, drop kicks, kicks, tackles made by any member of the team.
• Remember to know where those specific drop kicks, tackles, passes are on any of the abovementioned electronic equipment.

This is just a short list of the requirements of a rugby mamma, for those mamma's who's season just started, I'm feeling the love with you.

Be my Valentine

This morning being Valentines day, although being a bit commercialised it's about sharing the love, I shared some love with family and shared some love with friends. It was just great to see the appreciation they had for their small little gifts. I just made each one something small. This made me realise that I actually need to do some more of this loving throughout the year.
Taking things for granted, by becoming a little more aware of your surroundings, its amazing really. Just this morning I realised we have a beautiful garden where we work, and I took some photograph s. Afterwards I realised this did my bucket list proud.
