Shabby Inspiration

Inspiration comes in many forms and these days I'm all about the shabby, vintage look. I luv the look, it would probably cost me an arm and a leg to change my entire house to reflect the look, yet, I'm thinking, one room at a time and I'll get there. I just luv the color white in all its tones, luv it. (I have to do an insert here and state that I do have a black dog and a black cat), so I'm not to sure how to practical this change over would be, then again, I'm thinking if I don't start now, it would never be.

So I'm game, I'm at the starting point and rearing to go. So watch this space. With me being in the starting blocks I'm sharing a few ideas I've got on my mood board, these little bits of inspiration, might just get you all set out to do some changing yourselves. Note it's Spring soon, officially that is, and it's the time for change, new beginnings, letting out with the old, bringing in the new. It's just that exciting.

For your inspiration I present the Shabby Look....

shabby chic rooms

I love the shabby chic / French connection / white space effect with a bit of a twist. You know when you have those wants and the needs. Here's my little twist on wants and needs. I NEED to have my little home "quick pic below" WANTING to look like the inspiration of a shabby chic catalogue. PS.... it has to be teenage friendly in the mix.

I have all these steps worked out in my head. Just when I think I have it all down and ready to let go and let loose - I get bombarded with other ideas and inspirations.  It's having a brain freeze with a senses overload. Too much I tell you.

There is just so many ideas bumbling around in my headspace at the moment. Working on my to do list / wish list. I know I just have to be patient and go with the flow. Just waiting on that light bulb / click moment where everything just falls into place.

Turquoise Inspiration

I love the color turquoise and was thinking of bringing a few of these colors into my home somewhere, some place. I don't think it could be difficult to change something here or there. My mind is so much full of color, I need about four houses to do whatever I want to do. One is just not enough.

Shabby Chic Possibilities

These days I love white and all things white and this moves me to the Shabby Chic movement in home decor. I don't like all the little frills that sometimes go with the Shabby Chic movement, but I do like the white and the color schemes reflecting within the Shabby Chic framework.

For a bit of weekend inspiration I'm sharing you some of my inspirations I found that got me inspired to look a bit more deeper into the home design aspect of going into the vintage side of things.

White Bedroom

I'm in the process of changing by bedroom into an all white affair. The process being I bought up all stark white linens, busy in the process of making myself an all white quilt, the easy way. Got me a couple of nice all white cushion covers stashed away in my bedroom ready to be used.

The problem is..... It's a bit more difficult than what I thought, with three teenagers, one husband, cat and a dog in the picture. It's more in line with when do I actually do this all white affair. I don't really want to do this when I'm near to pension time and not have the joy of living in my all white room.

I'm wondering is white actually a practical color. I'm thinking I'm asking all these questions to myself when I actually already have eighty percent of all the all white stashed somewhere in my room already. Then when I look at the pictures below, I get all inspired again to have this all white bedroom including the children, cats and dogs.

Then again, when I'm getting to the rest of the twenty percent I'm wondering should I or shouldn't I. Who knew that this would become an issue. Then again, when I get inspired with the all white I'm thinking maybe I should go with it and let the chips lie where they roll.

Maybe I should just use a magic ball to make the decision for me.

Litsje's Pinterest

Pinterest is always good for sourcing ideas for your home, diy and crafts. I myself have a few boards of inspiration. My favourite is for my home which I describe as :

These are all the things I want to do in my home, around my home and with my home. My place for inspiration, ideas and dreams

I'm sharing a few pictures for your inspiration. On My Home Board you can just click through to the original pin and/or site and/or source.

I love the fact that it has narrowed my home style in what I love/like/want/need. Although there is a difference between want and need. What's nice is, some of the ideas are of such a nature that it could be done on a budget. Gives the side of want a bit of breathing space to process the need.

While pinning I'm working through if this idea / inspiration would work for me, what I do have in and around my home, what would I need and what my want would be. It's a slow process, yet it has helped me define my home style.

We all are different, and I'm sure that through all the pinning you'll find your own style. There is just some things that give us a pull more than others be it visually or emotionally. Through this visual explorations we tend to find how in some sense we are put together. What inspires us, what makes our senses tick. That's what pinterest does for me. It's like looking through a window for inspiration.
Finding the inspiration that works and moving this inspiration into doing.

I'm always exploring and hope that you will find joy in exploring your senses as well.

Imagination is the eye of the soul.
